Fitting Instructions
Tools Required
Before starting, make sure you have the following tools:
- Reciprocating saw or angle grinder with suitable cutting disc
- 15mm socket and/or spanner
- 14mm socket and/or spanner
- 10mm socket and ratchet
- Marker or paint pen
- Tape measure
Important: Allow the exhaust to cool completely before beginning installation. Always ensure the vehicle is safely supported before working underneath it.
REMOVAL & PREPARATION
Step 1 – Position the Vehicle
Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface.
For best access, we recommend carrying out the installation on a vehicle hoist. If installing the exhaust at home, ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and safely supported before working underneath it.
Step 2 – Mark the Exhaust Cut Lines
Refer to Image 1 for the required cutting measurements.
Using the measurements shown in Image 1: 270mm
- Measure from the exhaust hanger bracket to determine the first cut location.
- Measure from the muffler weld to determine the second cut location.
- Use a marker or paint pen to clearly mark the cutting point on both exhaust pipes.
Double-check both measurements before making any cuts.
Step 3 – Cut the Factory Exhaust
Using an angle grinder or reciprocating saw, carefully cut through both factory exhaust pipes at the marked locations.
Try to make each cut as straight and square as possible, as this will help achieve a better fit and seal when installing the new Ignite exhaust components.
Step 4 – Remove the Factory Exhaust Section
Locate the factory exhaust connections just behind the flex sections.
Undo and remove the two 15mm bolts on each side securing the front section of the exhaust.
Next, remove the exhaust hanger bracket from the side of the chassis by undoing the two 10mm bolts.
Once all fasteners have been removed, carefully lower and remove the factory exhaust section from the vehicle.
INSTALLING THE IGNITE EXHAUST
Step 5 – Fit the Driver-Side Loop Pipe
Begin with the driver-side trombone loop pipe.
Refit the factory rubber hanger/bracket onto the hanger located on the new Ignite exhaust pipe.
Position the loop pipe into place and loosely secure the front connection using the two 15mm bolts. Do not fully tighten these bolts yet.
Refit the hanger bracket to the chassis using the two factory 10mm bolts removed earlier.
Fit the supplied Torctite clamp over the connection between the two pipes. Tighten the clamp finger-tight only at this stage so the exhaust can still be adjusted.
Step 6 – Fit the Passenger-Side Pipe
Fit the left-hand/passenger-side exhaust pipe.
The longer end of this pipe slides forward towards the front of the vehicle and into the corresponding connection/clamp.
Fit the supplied Torctite clamp over the rear connection and, again, only tighten it enough to hold the pipe in position while still allowing adjustment.
Step 7 – Align & Tighten the Exhaust
With both pipes installed, carefully adjust the exhaust until everything is sitting correctly.
Check that there is adequate clearance between both exhaust pipes, the chassis, bodywork and any surrounding components. Make sure neither pipe is contacting the vehicle anywhere throughout the system.
Once you are satisfied with the position and clearance:
- Tighten the front mounting bolts securely.
- Tighten both Torctite clamps securely.
- Check that the chassis hanger bracket is tight.
- Recheck the position of both pipes after tightening.
The clamps must be tightened sufficiently to create a proper seal and prevent exhaust leaks.
Step 8 – Check for Exhaust Leaks
Start the vehicle and allow it to idle.
Carefully inspect each exhaust connection for leaks. You can feel around the joints for escaping exhaust gases, but do not touch the exhaust directly, as it will become hot very quickly.
If a leak is detected, switch the vehicle off, allow the exhaust to cool and retighten or reposition the affected connection.
Step 9 – Final Check & Test Drive
Once everything has been checked and there are no leaks, take the vehicle for a short test drive.
Listen for any rattles, knocks or unusual noises and recheck the exhaust clearance and fasteners after the test drive.
Your Ignite Exhaust Trombone Loop Pipe is now installed.

Ignite Exhausts is the in-house 4x4 exhaust brand from Playtime Auto Parts, Sunbury VIC (formerly sold as Playtime Ignite).
Ignite Exhausts consists of mandrel bent piping to determine optimum performance, flow and sound out of your exhaust system. Mandrel bending involves a mandrel placed in the tube during bending which maintains the shape and diameter of the tube. It reduces the risks of restricted exhaust gases often found in cheaper bending methods like press bending.

WHICH OPTION DO I NEED?
We pride ourselves in offering an extensive number of exhaust options to suit every buyer.
High flow catalytic converter – Required for legal road use, designed to have less restriction compared to stock catalytic converters, high flow design has very little restriction on the exhaust.
No catalytic converter – For off-road use only, no restriction in the exhaust (complete straight through exhaust).
Pipe only – No mufflers (straight pipe) our loud option.
Resonator – Moderate sound option, the design of our stainless steel resonator helps reduce drone whilst still providing an aggressive exhaust note.
Muffler – Our quietest option, perfect for towing. The straight through design of our stainless steel mufflers insure no restriction to the exhaust whilst keeping the note minimal.
Diff pipe – No mufflers (straight pipe) our loudest option finishing before the vehicles differential.
ALUMINISED MILD STEEL
Aluminised mild steel commonly used in exhaust systems for its strength and heat resistance is a great option for when choosing your exhaust. It can withstand exposure to corrosive elements without rusting easily thanks to its aluminium coating.
It’s a cost effective option compared to other similar materials making it a popular choice in various industries. If you’re looking for a heat resistant, durable, cost effective exhaust an aluminised mild steel exhaust is your option.
409 GRADE STAINLESS STEEL
The premium when it comes to an exhaust system is a 409 grade stainless steel exhaust. Unlike other materials such as 304 stainless steel that is very susceptible to cracking, 409 grade is a very heat resistant and more versatile metal making it a great choice when looking for exhaust performance.
Other materials like 304 stainless steel stress under the constant heat transfer in an exhaust which most commonly results in the exhaust cracking. 304 stainless steel is a great option for show cars where you are after that great polished look but on everyday road use the failure rate is high.
For a durable, corrosion and heat resistant exhaust it’s no mystery why a 409 stainless steel is used on most factory produced vehicles making it the best option when it comes to a 4x4 exhaust.
LASER CUT FLANGES & HANGERS
IGNITE Exhausts have spared no time when it comes to the custom flanges & hangers used on their exhaust systems giving it the upper edge when it comes to the strength of the exhaust.
Our competitors most often use the typical steel-rod hanger bracket creating a vast weak spot over the bracket, which in some instances can cause a crack or failure in the exhaust.
The precise cut of our hangers ensure that the bracket fits perfectly and securely. This accuracy helps maintain the structural integrity of the exhaust system.
BOLT ON INSTALLATION
IGNITE Exhausts are designed and tested to follow the same layout as the factory exhaust. A priority of ours is to ensure the ease of bolting on our exhaust systems which utilise the factory rubber mounts.
Detailed fitting instructions available at the click of a button as well as a full fitting kit supplied makes the job a breeze. Nuts, bolts, clamps, gaskets etc all supplied in fitting kit.
Note: When fitting allow time to check over the exhaust making sure everything is aligned and then tighten all bolts and nuts from the front to back of the vehicle. If you have any fitting/alignment issues, please call us as soon as possible to avoid damaging the exhaust system.
