Exhaust Hangers, Rubber Mounts & Brackets
Exhaust hangers hold your system in place and stop engine vibration travelling into the cabin. Choose heavy-duty universal hangers with single-end, double-end or swivel brackets for custom systems, or vehicle-specific rubber mounts and fitting kits for Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon and Toyota Landcruiser.
Universal or vehicle-specific?
Vehicle-specific hangers and kits bolt into the factory mounting points, so they're the simplest fix on a standard system. Universal hangers come with a bracket you position yourself, which suits custom systems, upgraded pipe sizes and anywhere a factory part won't line up.
Signs a hanger has failed
Watch for a knock or rattle over bumps, a tailpipe that sits lower than it should, or the exhaust touching the chassis. Cracked, stretched or perished rubber is the usual cause.
Replace the system's supports together
A sagging exhaust puts extra load on joints and the remaining hangers. When one hanger fails, check the others along with nearby clamps and gaskets, and replace anything worn at the same time.
Tightening up the joints too? See Exhaust Clamps and Exhaust Gaskets.
FAQ
Should I buy a universal or a vehicle-specific exhaust hanger? Use a vehicle-specific hanger on a standard system, because it fits the factory mounts. Use a universal hanger on a custom or upgraded system where you need to position the bracket yourself.
How do I know if my exhaust hanger is broken? Common signs are a knock or rattle over bumps, a sagging tailpipe and the exhaust touching the chassis. Check the rubber for cracks, stretching or perishing.
Do I need a special tool to fit rubber exhaust hangers? No, but hanger removal pliers make the job easier. Soapy water or a silicone spray helps the rubber slide onto the hanger rod.
